I’m thankful that you are considering working with me. If you are looking for a therapist who not only has clinical skills and experience but also lived experiences that help them to understand life difficulties and struggles, I may be the perfect fit! My life has led me to become a therapist.
My life experiences have encouraged me to help others understand how their childhood traumas impact their view of themselves, others, and the world. Experiencing chronic illness has provided me the opportunity to further understand how attaching our worth to what we do, and our accomplishments can impact our self-worth when we are unable to do what we would typically do for others. Toxic relationships, betrayal, and divorce have provided a deep understanding of what betrayal and manipulation can do in our inner core of who we are and how it can lead to questioning yourself and everything around you.
In therapy, I believe that you are the expert on yourself and your life; my role is to help you uncover parts of you that may have been hidden or suppressed in an effort to just push through and survive. As we uncover those parts, we will work together to answer the question of Why? There is a reason for everything; the decisions you make, the way you feel about yourself, the core beliefs you have about yourself, others, and the world. Once you understand why, you have the ability to sift through and decide what stays and what goes, what you want to change, and what you’re actually happy with. In the process, you learn who you are, discover your own strength, beauty, and resiliency.
I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach in therapy, all through a trauma-informed lens.
The main approaches I use are client-centered, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Diialectical Behavior Therapy), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). The approach that I use in therapy with you, is dependent on your individual needs.
Therapy is all about you!
